Leslie's Adinkra Slide show

Leslie's Adinkra Slide Show

I have seen my slide show pinned in several places on the web. I have been ask why I have not embedded copyright info into them. Most people give me credit for my work and that is greatly appreciated (30 years of research). When it comes to Adinkra, they are not mine to to claim possession of.

Adinkra (ah-DEEN-krah) cloth is a hand-printed fabric made in Ghana. Developed by the Ashanti people. Adinkra cloths were traditionally made for royalty to wear at religious ceremonies. The dominant school of thought seems to be that the intellectual property rights belong to the people of Ghana. The use of the designs have been spread world wide, many cultures have similar symbols.

I was introduced to Adinkra symbols by my friend James Tettah when I lived in Portland, Oregon in the early 1980's. I have been fascinated by them ever since. I will never be able to say for sure, but feel in my soul that somehow Adinkra is a part of me.

My desire has been to simply to illustrate, understand and show respect for Adinkra Symbols.
